Manufacturers, Vendors, and Contacts

Every part in Aligni is made by a Manufacturer and sold by (or distributed through) a Vendor. Contacts are the people at these manufacturers and vendors that play an important role in how you do business with them. A few basic rules regulate how these entities interact:

• Each part is made by exactly one Manufacturer.
• Each Vendor sells parts from one or more Manufacturers.
• Therefore, a part is sold by one or more Vendors.
• A Contact may be associated with multiple Manufacturers, but only one Vendor.

Your site administrator and librarians can manage the relationships between parts, manufacturers, vendors, and contacts. These relationships help organize the data and also provide guidelines for certain actions such as submitting RFQs and purchase orders.
